Start Now For The Future Ahead

Convenient & Cheap but at what cost?

Plastic bags are so cheap to produce, sturdy, plentiful, easy to carry and store that they have captured at least 80 percent of the grocery and convenience store market since they were introduced a quarter century ago. As a result, the bags are everywhere. They sit balled up and stuffed beside the frig or hang from the pantry door. They line bathroom trash bins. They carry clothes to the gym. They clutter landfills. They flap from trees. They float in the breeze. They clog roadside drains. They drift on the high seas. They fill sea turtle bellies. Paper and plastic bags both come at great cost to the environment. So when it comes time to checkout and asked paper or plastic, break the habit and pullout your reusable bag with pride!

:( It's sad that people continue to ask, "Paper or plastic?". My family and friends use canvas bags, luckily I haven't run into too many people that still use plastic. There are a few stores that I think have a trend that should catch on, if you decline a bag upon checkout, they give you a 5 cent token (cost of the bag maybe?) that you put into the charity of your choice's box.

Thanks for the info. I know it is pretty sad that it's just so easy and cheap for stores to use plastic bags and how people don't even think twice about using them. It's a habit that people need to break out of.
